DOAJ and DOAB
The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is a freely accessible directory for Open Access journals. Only journals that meet the general standards of scientific Open Access publishing are listed in the DOAJ. The criteria include, among other things, the implementation of a peer review process or the demonstration of comparable quality controls, as well as the publication of all publications in Gold Open Access.
Journals that are not listed in the DOAJ are not automatically to be considered dubious. Rather, the database serves as a whitelist for quality-assured Open Access journals and can therefore also be used to search for such journals.
As a counterpart to the DOAJ, the DOAB (Directory of Open Access Books) offers a directory of quality-assured Open Access books.
ULB promotes Open Access publication in journals and books listed in the DOAJ or DOAB via HHU's Open Access fund.
