Diamond Open Access is considered the fairest and most inclusive form of Open Access. Here, scientific publications are made available completely free of charge to both authors and readers. There are no article processing charges (APCs) or other fees. Access to scientific literature and participation in scientific discourse are thus possible regardless of financial resources. Diamond Open Access initiatives are usually funded by scientific institutions, libraries or funding organisations.
HHU also supports Diamond Open Access. ULB Düsseldorf is involved in initiatives such as SCOAP3, Open Library of Humanities and KOALA. Additionally, all publications on the platforms hhu.books and hhu.journals are published in Diamond Open Access.
