Choir books and Bible manuscripts featuring magnificent illustrations, but also writings of interest to researchers due to subsequent addenda – the 428 medieval manuscripts are our most precious treasures.

We preserve treasures of cultural and knowledge significance digitally, too, and make them publicly available in our Digital Collections – our data is your data!

(Almost) everything by and about Thomas Mann! All complete works and single editions, journal articles, first editions, bibliophile editions, secondary literature, newspaper clippings, letters and translations, the collection is an excellent resource for research – and for all admirers of Thomas Mann’s work.

Egyptian artefacts, an aphorisms archive, fashion journals, flyers and newspapers on the history of the 19th century, older holdings from the library of the Düsseldorf Art Academy – our collections are extremely diverse. Allow yourself to be inspired!
