WiScan (reproduction service)

You have the option of acquiring scans in reproduction quality made of the ULB Düsseldorf holdings for a fee, provided that the conditions listed below are met.

Which media can be scanned?

Individual pages, illustrations or a complete work.

What are the conditions for a WiScan?

  • The material is free of copyright (usually from 70 years after the death of the author, section 64 UrhG)
  • The conservational condition of the work as well as its size allow for digitization

A fee of 35.29 € is charged for this service (basic fee including 10 scans; each additional scan 4.20 €; taxes not included). You will find an overview of the costs  in the fee schedule under Reproduction/copy costs. The invoice will be sent later by postal mail.

Please note that payment by credit card is not possible!

The University and State Library Düsseldorf adheres to the rules of practice of the German Research Foundation when digitizing its holdings. The scans are in TIFF format with a resolution of at least 300 ppi (pixel per inch).

Tip: Works that have already been digitized and published in the Digital Collections can be downloaded free of charge in JPEG format. For instructions, see here.

After processing your order, the digitised material will be made available to you via a download link, which will remain active for two weeks.

That depends on the material of the original and the necessary checking and scanning effort. Depending on the template, different scanners are used.
